       You came down from your throne and stood at my cottage door.
       I was singing all alone in a corner,and the melody caught your ear.
  You came down and stood at my cottage door.
       Masters are many in your hall,and songs are sung there at all hours.
  But the simple carol of this novice struck at your love.One plaintive 
  little strain mingled with the great music of the world,and with a flower
  for a prize you came down and stopped at my cottage door.

译文；
       你，
       走下你的宝座，
       站在我那一方陋室的小门口。

       而我，
       正在一个角落处，
       独自一人唱着歌，
       优美的歌声直入你耳窝。
       你走下来，
       站在我那一方陋室的小门口。

       你的殿堂，
       非凡的歌者何其多，
       无论夜与昼，
       时时刻刻都有歌声在你的殿堂上咏唱。
       我呀，
       只是个雏莺试新声，
       唱得稚嫩又朴拙，
       却惹起了你心中的爱与怜。
       一支小曲，
       婉转又忧伤，
       与那壮丽的普世之乐章，
       融汇而交响，
       你走下来，
       驻足在我那方陋室的小门口，
       带来一朵小野花，
       在我的门口娇艳地开放，
