原文；
       This is my prayer to thee,my lord----strike,strike at the root of penury
  in my heart.
       Give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows.
       Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service.
       Give me the strength never to disown the poor or bend my knees
  before insolent might.
       Give me the strength to raise my mind high above daily trifles.
       And give me the strength to surrender my strength to thy will with love.

译文；
       打吧，
       猛力地击打，
       对准我心中的困顿之根，
       这是我对你的祈祷，
       我的主。

       请赐给我力量，
       让我背负起所有的快乐和忧伤而不被压垮。

       请赐给我力量，
       让我的爱在奉献中结出累累硕果。

       请赐给我力量，
       让我永不离弃穷苦人，
       也绝不在傲慢的强权前屈膝。

       请赐给我力量，
       让我升华我的心灵，
       超越日常琐碎的羁绊。

       请赐给我力量，
       让我带着我的爱倾尽全力追随你意志的方向。
